pop up box card "21st Birthday "

I'm really into making pop up boxes , I've made several , some cut on my Silhouette Cameo  machine , like this one and other cut and scored by hand . They are very simple but give a fab 3d look that folds flat into an envelope.
The lady I work for asked if I could make a card for her neighbors son who is 21 next month , he is in the army but doesn't drink or have any hobbies , so I went for a star birthday box.
The basics are a silhouette America file. The star die is from Joanna Sheen . The papers are first edition , a selection of gold peel offs and gold stars complete the look. Hope they like it!

challenges entered :
Rubies rainbow : one for the boys

Happy Hopper Splish Splash

Not much swimming in a pool here but plenty of wet stuff in the form of rain , yesterday was quite nice though ,went in the garden and cycled to the pub .
My happy hopper from the "Gruffies and Happy Hoppers "cd rom from Joanna Sheen , looks very relaxed in the water. The bp water paper has a sticky back and is from a 6x6 pad by DCWV. The lettering is sizzlet dies "girls are weird " and the splash is a sizzix original die , real old stash. I enlarged the rabbit image and cut it out , raising it from the water with pinflair and I used modge podge on the rubber ring , rubber ducky and the splash wording . The cream , sunglasses and flip flops are joulles boutique and the yellow towel is felt cut from a sizzix bath time die.

Challenges entered :
house mouse and friends : splish splash (anything with water)
4 crafty chicks : no stamping zone

have a great Tuesday , Hubby and I will be making the most of today ...back to work for him after 9 days and back for me too.

House mouse berry picking

We had a real big storm yesterday evening ,thunder , lightening and torrential rain. The garage became flooded , Bob was frantically brushing it out and our adjoining neighbors  where doing like wise in theirs. More storms are forecast . Why is it that when ever we get a spell of nice weather we have to pay for it with a storm to follow!

My card features a house mouse stamped image sent to me by my lovely blog pal  Pinky , not sure what it's called , but I love the scene especial coloured in purples and teal. I've used my pro and flex markers to colour with .
The bp is hunkydory .The lazer cut lace card Hobby craft and the flowers and sentiment out ovals cut on my cameo machine. I've added pearl brads , a stitched ribbon and a die cut sentiment from tattered lace.

  challenges entered :
allsorts : purple passion
stamping sensations : May anything goes
totally gorgeous : lace (mines lacy card )
stampendous : mice are nice so are bunnies and bears ( house mouse and friends )

enjoy your day how ever the weather . I'm having my hair cut today , not been cut in nearly a year , so it's about time.

Gruffie with sunflowers

Nice to make a card to suit the day....beautiful sunny day here ...I was enjoying some gardening , then my neighbor decided to play some loud thrash metal....my shears where pictured severing his head and I'm not usually a violent woman  ....so I've made a card, crafting always relaxes me.

I've used my new cd rom again "the gruffies & happy hoppers" cd rom from Joanna Sheen , I love that big bear , great for men's cards. The sunflower paper is graphic 45 French Country and so is the matching ribbon slider. I made a sunflower embellishment by die cutting with a scalloped nestie circle . The sentiment is by craft work cards and the bit of bling is sticky gem flourishes bought for half price at Hobby Craft.

challenges entered :

Sketch Saturday : followed the sketch above
The cutie pie challenge : bring on the bling but make it cute
moving along with the times : heard it on the radio (my inspiration is "lazy bones sleeping in the sun ")
crafty little fairies : in the garden

well I think the musics stopped , so back to the garden for me .
have a lovely weekend. janex

gruffie with honey

It's funny how one thing leads to another ! yesterday I dug out my house mouse stamps (and made the card in the last post ) then I went surfing the web , as you do , landing on Joanna Sheen's website , then I saw the gruffies & happy hoppers cd rom at the sale price of £9.99, into my basket it went and fell through the letter box this morning . I often buy from Joanna Sheen because I know the products and fast service are second to none.
Well after that the only thing left to do was print some images and make a card.
The bp is country drive by echo park "the bee's knees" , the image from the cd rom mentioned as is the insert , the burlap (love this stuff ) a 99p find at The Works and the wooden embellishments have been in my stash for about a decade just waiting for the right card ....lol...I'm such a hoarder...

challenges entered :

gruffies and guests : anything goes with the option of Spring
House Mouse & Friends : sunny days ( second entry)
paper crafting journey : for that special man

bit of a mixed day here , suns out now , my Dad rang from Thailand it's 35 degrees there where he lives , he was sat  in the shade whilst talking to me and sipping a very cool G&T , I said I had the fire on !

House Mouse "summer days" just chill

Well I wouldn't call it a hot summers day , but the sun is out ,the flowers are blooming and the washing is blowing on the line.

I've not used my house mouse and friends for a while , they are well over due an airing . This cute stamp from the summer chill out set bey Joanna Sheen is perfect for the "House Mouse challenge : sunny days "
I  coloured with pro and flex markers and highlighted the lemon peel with modge podge (you can see this in the picture taken in the garden above ). The bp is man made by first edition. My card is for a man so I've not put on any fancy embellishments just  simply let the cute  image and fab paper stand out.

other challenges :
Rubies rainbow : animals
I love pro markers : what ever the weather
Tip Top Tuesday : here comes summer

hope you enjoy some sun today . janex

Pretty Parrots

My lovely husband Bob is 50 in July , he loves birds and would love a pet parrot , trouble is I'm terrified of birds , it's a real phobia I've always had. He spotted this gorgeous image from "the Jayne Netley Mayhew collection part 2 cd rom " by Joanna Sheen and said wow , so I thought I'll use that for his birthday card .
I stuck down the framed image and decoupaged another cut layer on top. The leaves are various L-em  punches and the corner pieces where cut with my cameo machine . The birthday and numbers sentiments are tattered lace die cuts. The corners where stamped with a swirly stamp , part of a mans set by making memories using Tim Holtz crushed olive . I used wild honey distress ink to soften the edges of my bp.
A twine bow and brown button complete the card . I know he will like the card , pity he can't have a real bird , but it would be a case of losing his wife in the bargain!

challenges entered :

The paper players : colour challenge ( see photo above )
Incy wincy : birthdays
As you like it : fur or feathers and why?) hubbies favorite and because it's his 50th

some black clouds in the sky here , oh May is not brilliant weather wise , nice light long days and the sun and showers are doing wonders for the garden .

rambling rose tattered lace die

I can't believe it's May 11 and so cold , blowing a gale here . My card can be bright and cheerful though.
I've used dies, punches and embossing !
The gorgeous in your face fuchsia card by hunky dory has been embossed using a rose 6x6 embossing folder by crafters companion . The decorative edge around my image/sentiment is a Martha Stewart punch around the page . The rose embellishment is a tattered lace die , rambling rose the free die with the latest magazine, cut and layered 3 times . T.he fancy corners are from a Sue Wilson die .
I've added liquid pearls , my new thing to add to every card lately! The image is cut from a 12x12 paper by Kaiser raft called Miss Nelly.
The pictures not very good , combination of a cheap camera and bad light , but you get the jist.

challenges entered :
tattered lace challenge : romance and roses
Tuesday throw down : special lady
hobby book : add a sentiment
4 crafty chicks : :flowers

The huge tulips are actual tulips from Amsterdam , my hubby and I went last year , visited the tulip museum and brought a bag of tulip bulbs back for my Mum, they looked stunning in her garden but as she was going on holiday so asked me to cut some .Don't they look amazing , no wonder the Dutch went mad over these . The veining they found out was actually a  virus ...oh the money they spent on these paying more than for houses.

A few pictures of the garden I took the other day , hope the cold wind doesn't spoil everything.

enjoy the rest of the weekend and happy crafting .janex

Elegant Art Deco in black and white

I'm afraid I chickened out of white on white by adding some black , but I like the way it turned out , how about you?
The background paper , simple white card was embossed with a Die'sire Rose Garden embossing folder , I highlighted some of the roses with a quicky glue pen and glamour dust , takes forever but the extra bling is worth it.
The fancy oval is a spellbinder die embossed in a cuttle bug folder.
The romantic pair are Deco couple by tattered lace dies.
The leaves , I wanted these badly , got them from ebay with free p&p, are Sue Wilson Faux Quilled Leaves die.
I added a pearl buckle , a black silk ribbon and a piece of pretty white lace from a local sewing shop.
I know a couple who will be celebrating their pearl wedding anniversary this year , think this will fit the bill!

challenges entered :
My time to craft : Art Deco
The paper shelter : use ribbon
everybody art : love
Dream valley : anything goes
Die cutting Divas : girly

Early morning here the sun is shinning , blue sky , looks promising for our walk on the Wirral.

Silhouette cameo chocolate,peaches and cream

Morning crafter's hope your all well. I have been spending time in the garden tending the lawn ,planting and pruning . I've been lucky and received quite a few free plants from different people. I think gardening folks are lovely just like crafty folks , It's nice to have 2 hobbies!
I've created most of this card using my cameo machine . The lattice background is a free cutting file from cards by Bird. The flowers ,flower sprig and bow are all silhouette America cutting files . The bp is first edition paper. I've added gold and pearl brads to the centers. The sentiment is indigo blue , it was part of a set that was a free gift with Simply cards and papercraft mag issue 123. I took my inspiration from Phill Martin who was on create and craft yesterday.
Hope you have a good weekend (and bank holiday Monday if your in the UK) .
Happy crafting .janex
